Hello! I'm quite interested in your project, since I happen to be Chinese as well. It'll be fun. Just a few quick questions though.

1. Do you have a colour scheme you prefer?
2. What size do you want the poster to be?

Great to hear from you and look forward to see what you come up with. The poster will be used as a "one sheet" type of handout at film markets, so 8.5x11. In terms of colour scheme, I''d say tonally on the darker side, probably a little splash of red blood type stuff in there. 

In terms of some posters that appeal to me as having corollary elements, here''s a few links: 

I SAW THE DEVIL - I like the straight up brutality of this. The point of Whirlwind is how the heroine starts off righteous and ends up just spilling blood for selfish ends. The sort of bloody fury symbolized here appeals in terms of who she becomes.
OLDBOY - Primarily its the Chinatown backdrop that appeals to me, establishing the setting.
TAKEN - I like the profile in the darkness and the faded words with the one highlighted. I''m thinking of a tagline something like: "She thought that vengeance would be the end. It was just the beginning." Or even just "Vengeance was just the beginning"
KILL BILL - What I like about this is that there''s no face, just a weapon (I don''t like the colours at all - Whirlwind is a dark story with a very bittersweet ending - more bitter than sweet, really. She defeats the Triad but at the cost of everything that is dear to her). If there were a weapon in the image it would likely be a sai - the three pointed dagger used in Asian martial arts.

Does that help? Or was it just long-winded? lol

Thanks for responding. This is key art for a project that''s in development - literally marketing material to get talent on board (so that they end up in the credit block), etc. by conveying the tone, genre, etc. It will be used as a handout at film markets, as the front page on a pitch deck and the landing page for a website. So, this is really the first piece and there will be more work following on from this but we wanted to focus first and foremost on the initial concept & design as a starting point.

It's from the Bible. Hosea: "They have planted the wind and will harvest the whirlwind..." The idea that what you do will come back upon you manifold. Make sense? I hope so or I'm in trouble. Lol
