Making more than pretty pictures is what I do. I like the idea of moving towards paralleling the path of the 360º multifaceted designer: in addition to design, focusing on strategy, research, conceptualization, etc. For example, I'm really interested in and am in the midst of doing research on game theory as well as trans-media storytelling. Thinking of design as more of an all-encompassing strategy rather than a sole-purposed layout can achieve things like the designer's role becoming much more integral, creating a multi-platform, multidimensional program, and ultimately, [unless you found a wonderfully lucky break] we are all doing this for a commercial purpose- something with lasting, staying power has more potential to grab the user's attention over a longer period of time.
