DESIGN BRIEF FOR the Coins 4 Charity LOGO

This brief is designed to provide enough information for the designer to assess the proposed assignment realistically without discouraging creative exploration, and a summary of key points to refer to.

Coins 4 Charity Profile

Coins 4 Charity is a fundraising initiative directly benefiting the Rashid Paediatric Therapy Centre in Dubai, a nonprofit school for special needs children aged 3 to 22 year old.

Mission - Coins 4 Charity's mission is to raise funds specifically loose coins from the public to support the schools ongoing expenses such as:

  • building maintenance

  • students unable to pay their school fees

  • new equipment for the children

  • transport

Current Requirement

A logo that depicts the essence of the fundraiser - a charity organisation benefiting from loose coins - is needed. No current logo exists although the words Coins 4 Charity are easy recognisable.

Objectives

Coins 4 Charity desires a new logo that will (1) depict our mission if possible but not necessarily need to include graphic images of "coins" in the logo (2) enhance our image and (3) attract possible donors. The logo must be effective both in print and on the Web. The logo will be the centerpiece of the design of other elements of the Coins 4 Charity graphic identity. (See "Design medium," below.)

The logo should preferably have the colour / colours burgundy/ dark red and contain the words Coins 4 Charity. The logo should cater for a variety of audiences such as school children, college students, corporate environments and the general public therefore should be versatile and light hearted.

Design medium

The logo will be used in print and on the Coins 4 Charity future Web site. Examples of print media where the logo may occur: program announcement, stationery (letterhead and envelope), brochure, sign, poster, banner, coffee mug, T-shirt, pencil, notebook spine, etc. The logo will appear primarily in the small scale of a printed piece, but may from time to time be displayed in large format, such as on a banner.

The Winner of the Competition will be announced in the first week of May. The Winner will be invited to the school (only if you live in the UAE) and be congratulated by the school director, and management.

There are no specific requirements for the design of the logo, its an open entry competition. However please read the following terms & conditions:

Actualizaciones

I do hope you are well, and apologies for the length of time it has taken to get back to you about this project.

Unfortunately the lady that launched Coins 4 Charity, Lizelle Jensen, had to return to South Africa after her husband was made redundant, and has therefore had no choice to put this project on hold. We have been trying to look at ways to continue this project for her whilst she is back home, but there appears to be no way forward.

This unfortunately means that the competition is currently cancelled, unless of course Mrs. Jensen is ever able to return.

I do want to take the time to thank you for your efforts and your great designs, and let you know that I will keep the designs on file should Coins 4 Charity ever be relaunched.

Again, apologies for not having got back to you sooner, I just wanted to be sure we had done everything in our power to save the project before I contacted you all.
