Typically things like this effect are done in photo shop but are just psd, and png not vector, done in illustrated the files will be scalable but the effect is slightly better as photo shop, which do you prefer? Photoshop or illustrator files?

I would like the deliverable to be in one of either native Photoshop or native Illustrator format. I'm indifferent except that I have plans to use this logo in large scale i.e. across full web pages – I'm guessing each axis would need to be at least >1500 pixels if not vector.
