We are looking for a quality home page design for a new website we will be launching later this year. The websites will be called “The Best Online” and will feature hundreds of the very best websites covering many different niches. This contest is for the home page design only, no coding is required. The winning design must be a fully layered psd and any fonts used must be included.

Home Page Design Brief

We are looking for a design similar to xxxwhich.co.ukxxx but DO NOT copy this design or take any images from the design. Also of course DO NOT use the same colour scheme.
At the top left of the design include the site name “The Best Online” then on the top right have a “Submit Site” button or link.

I would like the design to have a category bar as in the example site so on your design include, The Best Online Home, then Category 1, Category 2 Category 3 etc.
Under the category bar I would like another bar that includes, Submission Guide& Latest Reviews. On the right of this bar I would like another options which should be “Most Viewed Reviews”

I do like the slider panel of the example website so I would like something similar but better if possible. I would like the slider to have 4 different panels as per the example site.

Panel 1: The Best Online
The header text for this panel should be “The Best Online” and underneath should be the sub heading, “Serving you only the very best of the web. Also add a couple of lines of dummy text below the sub head.
Include the logo or part of it in this panel as the graphic.

Panel 2: Top Website Reviews
The header text for this panel should be “Top Websites Reviews” and underneath should be the sub heading, “We manually review every website before inclusion” Also add a couple of lines of dummy text below the sub head.

Panel 3: Site Submissions
The header text for this panel should be “Site Submissions” and underneath should be the sub heading, Submit you site today for possible inclusion to The Best Online. Also add a couple of lines of dummy text.

Panel 4: Detailed Reviews
The header text for this panel should be Detailed Reviews and underneath should be the sub heading, Every site listed has a full written review. Also add a couple of lines of dummy text underneath.

The above 4 panels will be the major selling points of the site driving visitors to the submission sales page so they really do need to catch the eye of vistors.

Underneath the panels I would like 2 sections. On the left, taking up at least 2 thirds of the width of your design I would like 3 rows with each row containing 3 x website screenshots plus dummy text. This section should have the heading “The Best Online Websites”. On the right I would like another heading which reads “Top Online Websites” . Simply fill the Top Online Websites section with dummy text such as Top Online Website1 etc.

Under the above section have a banner that runs the width of the page. Include the main heading “Submit Your Site Today! Also try again to use part of the gold medal logo plus include some dummy text. Also include a Sign Up button.

Category Section
Next I would like a Top Best Online Categories Section. Not sure how these could be laid out as I’m not keen how the example site has displayed their section. I would though like the following with a matching graphic. Perhaps 4 rows of 3 or 3 rows of 4?

Footer Design
The footer will contain an index like you can see on this website http://botw.org/. We have not finalised all the sections yet so just use the ones specified at botw.
At the bottom of the footer include the standard Contact Us, Terms & Conditions & Site Map.

2nd Page Design Brief

I have increased the prize money as I also will need a second page although a lot of the second page will be based on the home page design.

I will do my best to explain exactly what I require. If you have any questions then feel free to ask.

The second page will list websites of a set niche. As an example for the 2nd page we will use the niche of bingo.
If we take the design submitted by James then the text at the top of the page will change from “The Best Online “ to “The Best Online Bingo”

The submit button will remain as will the category bars.

The slider will also remain but this will contain the top 5 best online bingo sites. For your design include a slider with the title “Jackpotjoy Bingo”, dummy text and a screenshot of the Jackpotjoy Bingo home page.

The slider will have 5 best online bingo sites but if your design just show Jackpotjoy that will be fine.
Below the slider there will need to be a Featured Section. This section will be in effect a mini directory listing. This will list the 5 sites displayed in the slider. For each site you should list the name of the site, for example Jackpotjoy Bingo then below add a couple of lines of dummy text, with a small icon so the user can go directly to the site, then another icon where the user can read a review about the site. Perhaps it would also be a good idea if each entry also had a small version of the Gold Medal on the left.

Below the Featured section there should be another section with the title “The Best Online Bingo Sites”
This will be in the same format as the “Featured” section and will list 15 further sites. Your design though must ensure that the “Featured” section stands out more than this section.

Below this section there should be the “Submit Your Site” section as on the home page. The Best Online Categories section also from the home page, plus the directory listing and the footer from the homepage.


The above brief is just my basic concept. Remember I'm not a designer so if you have a better concept to lay out all the data required then please "go for it" as I'm open to ALL ideas!
