I have an existing Application called SmugApp on the Windows 8 Platform. SmugApp is a companion app for the SmugMug website which provides a portal and marketplace for photographers.

The SmugApp application provides the ability for SmugMug users to browse their photography on a Windows 8 Device (Tablet, PC, etc.), search for photos, upload photos and so on instead of using the non touch friendly website experience (www.smugmug.com). For an example of a photographers site you can browse to mine: www.optiquephotography.co.uk

I need a logo that can be used in a variety of scenarios as part of a re-branding of my app. The logo will be used for the "Live Tile", Splash-Screen, In-App Navigation and also advertising within the Windows Market Place. I'm hoping that the right design can be used flexibly across these different places.

The Live Tile sizes are 150x150, 310x150 and 30x30.

Splash-Screen and In App Navigation can be any size but will be rectangular in layout and could be the same as the 310x150 Live Tile image. The Splash-Screen is created by putting the logo at the center and using a background colour which matches the logo to create a seamless effect.

A variety of sizes are needed for the Windows MarketPlace advertising images (846x468, 558x756, 414x468, 414x180) so need something that is flexible for the different positions they can use but again expecting it to be the same logo.

I don't have any fixed views on colours, I quite like the style of the imagery on The Noun Project (http://thenounproject.com) which fits quite well with the Microsoft "Metro" design principles and was exploring use of a camera image but ran out of design skills quickly!

• Must align to the Metro Design Guidelines - some background is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metro_(design_language). "Flat" rather than "Chrome"
• I think the SmugApp name should be incorporated into the logo but open to ideas.

• I was thinking of some imagery related to cameras, photos, experiences, etc. but again open to ideas.

• I cannot use the word SmugMug as part of the logo, e.g. "Powered by SmugMug" is not allowed nor is use of their logo.
