We need a logo design for a new company, True Grit Meadery. True Grit Meads distinguishes itself from other alcoholic beverages because it has a smooth, complex flavor, which is easy to drink, while having a very high alcohol content (18%-21% ABV). Our products are a non-infused, non-carbonated mead that allows the honey to be the main notes in the taste. All of the honey used in True Grit mead is raw honey from the around the United States, highlighting the flavors of regional honey. The first, or flagship product will originate from an Illinois honey that has a subtle clover taste with notes of apple from the apple orchard where the bees forage (collect the nectar). True Grit Meadery offers meads that allow a consumer to choose an alcoholic beverage that is weaker than liquors, stronger than beer and wine, but easy to drink.

For the design--True Grit is a synonym for strength. Strength is the story we are telling with our brand. We would like to see designs with the colors black and yellow/gold, and we would like to stay away from 'cutesy' designs. We are looking for clean, sharp, and high end, but welcome "rough around the edges" or "worn" appearances given the implied agedness and strength of the name. We like the hexagon shape of the honey comb, although it is not required we think we want to incorporate this into our logo. Our personal design interests are industrial, natural woods, crisp, clean.
