Resumen de Diseño de Logo

September 16 Update: We've got a few solid designs in the running, and still a few days left before the deadline. We're open to taking a look at anything new. I'm designing the album jacket today...all I need is this design to finalize it.

September 11 Update: We've been shown a few designs the past few days that we really like and are now confident that we will receive a design we're stoked about, so we've extended the deadline and guaranteed payment. If you haven't submitted yet, it's not too late!

September 8 Update: We've received the mastered tracks and are ready to move forward with CDs and iTunes. The only thing really holding us up is getting a solid logo that we love. We've seen some good submissions so far, but nothing that has wowed us yet.

We are The MilePost13 Band, a church band in the final stages of producing a three song EP (extended play). We are looking for a new design for our band logo. I am a part time graphic designer myself and am very familiar with the design trends, but I often get stuck when it comes to my own stuff, so I'm excited to crowd source here to see if we can find something great.

We're looking for something either very modern or 70's retro (think Eagles/southern rock). Stay away from any religious symbols such as crosses and steeples please. We are also looking for a design that can be used in more than one variation. For example, sometimes we go by "The MP13 Band". Preferably something simple, immediately identifiable, perhaps one design element that can be used on it's own as a variation. Other than that, we're pretty much wide open to see what you can come up with.

The origin of our name...
We are located in Nags Head on the Outer Banks of NC in the US. The Outer Banks is a mile wide, 200 mile long strip of barrier islands, and we can see the Atlantic Ocean from our church building. There is one main road that runs nearly the entire length of the island. Everybody uses the milepost markers to identify location of things. Our church building is located closest to milepost 13.

Our music is a bit eclectic, but mostly includes modern rock, southern rock, and folk/country.

To promote the EP, we are developing a new website that will be centered on this logo design. This logo will possibly be used on the album cover (definitely in the album jacket somewhere), including but not limited to print and iTunes. We will initially be producing a few thousand CDs, hopefully more if needed. Possible that we could also ask the winner to design a full album cover if needed.

I've included a few designs we've used in the past. The grunge design was several years ago.

• Our instruments include guitars (acoustic, electric, bass), drums, keys, harmonica and sax along with vocal/mics.
• Natural elements and textures...wood, slate, etc.
• If you go with the 70's retro look, would love to see something that looks sketched/hand drawn.
• Prefer circular, square or linear/horizontal design...probably best to stay away from designs that are mostly vertical unless you've got something really great.
