Resumen de Diseño de Logo

The project is to design a logo for a trail running event. The title of the event is:
The Running Event on the Connecticut Appalachian Trial.

Since that is a mouthful, the abbreviation we're using is RECAT.

The logo should exhibit a high design sense, but use a limited palate of colors -- perhaps 4 or fewer plus black. The key theme is mountain running. I would like to avoid the (overused) silhouette of of a runner as a design feature -- or if it is used, it should be a small part of a larger design. Additionally, since we're using "CAT" to abbreviate "Connecticut Appalachian Trail", it might be possible to use the shape of a cat someplace (however, this is just one idea: i'm not asking for a cat).
