For which design?

Why is everything blue and orange? I stated that it will need to be on a blue van, but I've not seen one drop of green so far, and my first thought would have been that the logo should be some colour other than blue, in order to be on a blue background. I'm really interested if anyone can give some insight as to why so many of you designers have reached the same conclusion?
