Resumen de Diseño Wordpress
Girls Who Get Around is a travel site "instigating adventurous travel". It's ultimately a travel blog that features non-luxury, off-the beaten path, (often backpacking) trips with an open mind, honest writing, and sense of humor. My site does not book travel, only inspires the ideas for travel.
My objective: Transition from hobby travel blogger to cash generating travel blogger and create a recognizable brand. I need my site to look professionally done to attract readers, freelance jobs, other writers, and advertisers. Modes for user-interaction and increased traffic are very important.
The Look of the site: I want the logo to be displayed and the rest of the site match the look and feel of my logo. I like vintage and rugged. I'm not looking for a difficult layout, but want unique, creative graphics. I like vintage maps, postcards, rugged passports, passport stamps, cameras, photos, worn edges, etc.
The menu bar: Home-sweet-home, Meet Beth (sub cats: About and Contact), Travel Photos (Sub Cats: Africa, Asia, Australia and Oceania, Caribbean, Central America, Europe, Middle East, North America, South America) Travel Videos (same categories as Photos), and Media
Home-sweet-home: This will be my blog page. Photos are important to each post, so I don't want a layout that restricts this. I would like one column on the right side. The homepage must contain:
• RSS/Subscribe by e-mail , Share, and Follow buttons: If possible, I would like site "follow" and social network buttons to look like passport stamps, uniformly designed. (Twitter, Google+, Facebook, Subscribe via Email, RSS, LinkedIn) with a fun play on words like "follow me on my adventures"
• I would also like posts to be easy to share and very comment friendly. (tweet, stumbleupon, google+ dig/delicious etc. but I don't want these buttons to be too intrusive).
• "If you like this, you may also like" reader suggestions for posts
Right Column must include:
Heading:"Featured Travel Instigators (this should stand out)" with two categories, "Girls Who Get Around" and "Locals Know Best"
Heading: "Categories (This should stand out)" will include the same regions in the photos drop down with sub-cats, also with "Travel Humor" and "Reading is Sexy" Category.
Widget (or whatever) that allows readers to view most popular posts, most recent posts, and comments
Widget for potential contributors that allows them to contact me: "Want to become a GWGA Travel Instigator?" I'd like this to open a page that explains what a GWGA travel instigator is, and then a contact option.
Room for: Facebook Likes Widget and Recent Tweets widget, badges, blog ranks, and ads
Travel Photos page: I would like users to be able to click on the menu drop down, choose from the 8 regions and view Albums with one cover photo, a title, and short description. Click on the Album and the first photo is large and all photos are thumbs underneath. Click and move through them all—pretty basic. I would like viewers to be able to leave comments for individual photos.
Travel Videos page: ditto the photo page layout except of course they're not albums.
current site: www.girlswhogetaround.com (it's not pretty, please help!) :( Feel free to use any photos from site if you're so inspired.
Updates
I think my needs may be a bit confusing to some(all?) designers. I'm not very tech savvy, so am doing my best to state what I'm hoping to get from this project.
I want a wordpress design, ideally that I can update and install myself. I have no knowledge of css code. I was hoping this could be done for me, and I could just paste it/upload it via FTP? Maybe this is not possible?
I currently use theme twenty-ten and thought the code could be altered for my needs via a child theme. This way I could change and update without losing my unique/custom design.
I guess I assumed that this was a more common ask. Please let me know if there are any questions and I will revise the project if need be. This is my max budget.
Please let me know if this is a clear/reasonable ask.
Thank you for your interest.

For clarity to all participating designers: this project is for psd only. The code and theme will be a separate project following this one (most likely with the winning designer). Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
I look forward to your designs!
Thank you,
Beth

For designers that may not have read the comments, I posted a few links that may be helpful for a visual concept of what I like. I'm really hoping to see designs that embody the old vintage postcard look similar to the postcards displayed in this blog post: Playful and adventurous.

(random thought: I also like the idea of passports stamp follow buttons OR one of those directional sign posts with follow options on each arrow, and maybe a twitter bird sitting on top, like one of these: http://www.superstock.co.uk/stock-photos-images/1071-536A) Just thinking out loud :)
Excited to see your ideas!

Project Deadline Extended
Reason: There are a couple designs that I really like, but I've asked for a few little changes. These changes will help me to determine which design I would like to choose.
Thank you for your great designs and hard work. It's very much appreciated!
Beth

My logo. Easy to subscribe/follow/share. Great graphics. Vintage, rugged travel feel. I like vintage maps and postcards, photos, cameras, passports, and passport stamps.

No debería tener
- I don't want it to be too girly. I have male readers and don't want them to be turned away by the appearance of the site.
