Resumen de Diseño de Logo

Sisters In Trade is a start-up company/website focused on connecting women in various construction trades across Canada. Though it will provide a variety of functions, its main intent is to help pave the way for talented women in the skilled trades.

The information/portal-based website will cater to businesses and individuals alike. Its original aim was to serve as a resource for women when it came time to renovating their homes. However, it's grown since then to include a network of shared resources and information, all of which helping to build recognition for women in the Canadian construction industry.

I need your creative designs to help me summarize this vision into a brandable, easily-recognizable logo. Contest winner will get preferential notice for all upcoming web design projects.

Important Update: July 6, 2009

Many thanks to everyone for all of your submissions up to now.  After reviewing our original brief and several of the designs, it seems apparent that we neglected to give sufficient creative direction.

The new revisions below, should facilitate your design process:

Colour Focus:

  • We are definitely leaning towards the blue/white/green colour palette (though must also display well in B&W)

Design Criteria:

  • Logo must be simple, yet have a unique sense of style, sophistication, and professionalism.

  • Logo must appeal to women and be attractive to various socio-economic backgrounds

  • Logo must have meaning but be abstract enough in design to be thought-provoking

  • Any imagery used (no clip art) must be incorporated into the wordmark design (think outside the box – not just your typical hardhat, hammer, etc.)

  • Logo should evoke thoughts of confidence and empowerment, be inspirational, and above all communicate authority

Typography:

  • Font(s) used should be clean, fresh, and distinctive (with a feminine touch)

Brand Message:

  • Servicing - Showcasing - Supporting (not to be copied into logo)

    Important Update: July 17, 2009

Deadline extended by 3 days to accommodate prior technical difficulties

    Objetivo del mercado(s)

Though our target market is predominantly females aged 25-60, I DON'T want to position the company as a feminist/women-only service.

    The website will:
Attract women in various trades to join our online community,
Connect women homeowners with women in various trades,
Market/promote women in the online community to prospective clients,
Provide an avenue for aspiring tradeswomen to network with professionals in their industry
