At SoundBoks we produce and sell battery driven, portable speakers for outdoor usage.

Our 3 USPs are:
Long battery life
Durable design
High volume

For our new model we need icons for our button panel. The idea behind this is that we are a start-up and we are able to speak to our customers in an original way and want to exploit this opportunity. Our target group is 16-34 years olds which means that the icons can be funny/edgy/original but should also not scare off other people.

The use of the SoundBoks is primarily on festival camping areas, the skate park, the beach or at the fitness club - just to give you an image of what demographic and which settings we are talking.

The task:
We need icons for the aux-input, dc-input, on/off- and volume button which needs to replace any type of descriptive text or numbers. We also need our logo and a bluetooth symbol placed accordingly on the panel.

On/off: This is a 90degree 3 step wheel where we need an icon for each step. First step (10:30 (on a clock)) is ‘off/sleep’, second step (12:00) is ‘powersafe/chill/environmental-mode’ and the third step (1:30) is ‘party/full-on/go crazy—mode’. These are meant as descriptive names for the functions and should only be used as guidelines.

Volume: The volume-button is a bit more straight forward. Here we simply want to set us apart from other traditional volume-buttons - we don’t want numbers to indicate the loudness nor do we want steps. Let your creativity take over - but keep it simple.

DC-input & aux-input: These two functions are fairly simple and the icons don’t have to be particularly original but they need to correspond with the design language of the other icons.

Other: It needs to be visible on the panel that our product has bluetooth integration - how is this done in the best way? Besides we need our logo (which might change) included somewhere on the panel.

The panel itself is approximately 15,2x7,2cm, the diametre of the volume- and the on/off buttons are 3,8cm. The scale of the icons is up to you guys - but again keep it simple.
