Resumen de Diseño de Logo
We are a consumer product design start-up, and we have decided to focus on designing and then bringing new and innovative products to the pet market. The name of our start-up is LUMO, and our first product due to launch soon is an innovative self-cleaning grooming tool.
Currently, pet industry products are typically very low quality mass produced goods, and the customers attention is drawn to the playful and kitsch packaging rather than the product. Our start-up LUMO, intends to be very different.
The tagline for our startup LUMO is ‘Pet Technology’. We want to create high quality products, using the best materials and latest technology to deliver new high class products to meet pet and pet owner needs. We need a logo deign to start to build such a brand.
We would like to start to build our brand by starting with logo from DesignCrowd. We would like to differentiate ourselves from current pet industry brands, and move away from the very stereotypical logo designs that you will find out there (refer to Should Not Haves).
We look forward to receiving iconic designs from YOU! We look forward to logos, where alike Mercedes or Audi, at first glance they infer quality, or a professional web logo that suggests smart technology.
We will answer any design questions immediately and give feedback as designs are received.
Thanks,
The LUMO team.
Updates
Thanks to the designers for all the logos we have received thus far. We want to send out an important message, as we find that many designers are not reading through the brief and missing key requirements:
In summary:
-Read the whole brief
-A circular graphic, with all the colors white/green/black is required in the graphic
-The graphic should be distinctive so that customers easily recognize the brand
-The graphic should be 'solid' such that it can be easily 'stamped' on a product i.e. injection molded into the plastic components
-Look at the things it should not include, given that many current pet brand logos are similar. No images or pet outlines, no ribbon type designs, no bones etc.
If you have any questions, or need the brief clarified further, please contact us and we will respond on the discussion board.
Thanks,
The LUMO Team

Project Deadline Extended
Reason: We apologize to all designers who have submitted designs in the past 48 hours and have not received feedback. The team member who deals with finding a logo for our startup had to deal with an unexpected task which took a higher priority.
To be fair to all designers, we are extending the deadline so that we can give feedback to the designers we have not been in contact with. This way everyone who entered will have had a fair opportunity to have submitted their best design, and give our small team, enough time to review the hundreds of designs we now have.
If you have any questions, please get in contact with us. Thank you for your designs and we will now work on giving feedback to you.

Requisitos
Debes tener
- These are the following design requirements for the logo:
- The graphic portion of the logo should be circular
- The logo should only use the following three colors; white, green and black. It should use all of these colors. The green should approximately match color 0AFF0A from www.colorpicker.com, although designers should feel free to adjust the green color to maximize the effectiveness of their design
- The graphic should be very iconic and recognizable without the logo text; for example the brand would be known if the graphic alone was placed on the product. The graphic can be designed such that the logo text ‘LUMO’ could be enclosed in the graphic, alike the Starbucks logo, for other uses such as packaging etc.
- Alternatively, the logo text can be adjacent to the graphic. Both would be acceptable designs to submit
- The graphic should be clean and solid. The graphic portion of the logo will be molded into the product, and therefore the image needs to be sharp, otherwise molding the graphic will be unsuccessful
- The logo should not be ‘flat’ however. Taking the BMW logo for example, the logo graphic should have highlights to accentuate it and give it a 3D feel when used on the website/marketing materials. However, you can also see that if the flat version of the BMW logo can be readily stamped or molded on vehicle components
Agradable de tener
- The tagline for our startup LUMO is ‘Pet Technology’. This tagline can be incorporated to sit below the main logo if the designer wishes.
This is entirely OPTIONAL. Some designers may feel the logo is better without; others may incorporate it in a neat way. Ultimately we leave this to your design discretion as to what you think works best.
No debería tener
- Currently, pet brands are quite clichéd and overtly playful. As a new brand, we want to set ourselves apart from the current monotonous branding, and so for example DO NOT use the following in the logo:
- A paw print
- A dog bone
- A pet cartoon or silhouette
- A ‘less serious’ font, or a font where the outline has been manipulated to represent a pet feature
- Enclose in a dog show winner ribbon/rosette
- etc.
