Arvita is an ecological NGO starting up in Panamá, Latin America, started by a young Australian born entrepreneur.
The name is derived from the Latin 'Arbor Vitae' or 'Tree of Life'.

Goals: Restore biodiversity and encourage better organic waste management practices. We also work to replace destructive agricultural practices with sustainable techniques.

How? Arvita transforms organic 'waste' to fertilizer through various techniques, using the compost produced to initiate reforestation in denuded areas in order to restore ecosystems and biodiversity.

Arvita combines two key ideas - Organic Recycling and Sustainable Reforestation - to solve some of the many problems associated with waste and deforestation.
The recycling of organic waste from supermarkets and restaurants diverts the 'waste' from landfills, and through composting, vermiculture, and other such practices, we transform the 'waste' into fertilizer. Using the nutritious fertilizer produced by Organic Recycling, Arvita can launch the second phase of the process, Sustainable Reforestation. Reforestation will take place in poor soils and denuded areas, using the nutritious compost as a base to sustain the life of the trees.

I am looking for passionate designers who are excited to create artwork that has a true positive impact. I believe this is a wonderful project with the potential to create a strong impact on the environment and local farmers in Latin America. I really appreciate all the help in turning this idea into a tangible project.

• I am looking for a logo that represents both the Reforestation and Organic Recycling elements of the NGO.
  *I am looking for an elegant, professional style that can be displaced by a broad range of other businesses who sponsor us.
  
  *What is the ideal logo?
  -A design that looks good in both black and white and in colour
  -Elegant and serious
  -A relatively Simple design, easy to remember
  -A logo that clearly communicates that we work with the environment - OR that communicates the organic recycling and reforestation themes
  -Name and Tagline text in simpler font, not cursive
  -The Name doesn't have to be combined with the logo but I would like it to be attached to submissions if possible; eg. have the text aligned with the image in an appealing way
  
  *Name and Tagline Requirements
  I would like the winning logo to be supplied with and without both the Name text and Tag Line in the formats mentioned below. In the case of a 'Wordmark logo' I would like the winning logo to be supplied with and without the Tag Line text.
  
  *Additional information for the winning logo
  -Once the winning logo is chosen, we need it to be submitted in High and Low Res. versions in color as well as Black and white.
  -All modifiable final Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop files , etc, must be supplied in case we need to make modifications down the road. All formats are needed in jpg, eps, tiff, PNG, BMP, GIF and any other formats that are commonly used.
  -Logo versions submitted with *transparent* background for web and print use, both high and low res, with and without tag lines/name.

• How many colors to be used in logo?
  Because of the Printing costs it would be good to work with several shades of 1 to 3 principal colours.
  
  *For the colour scheme I would ideally stick with shades of GREENS or BROWNS, or a combination of both.
  
  Possibly could include shades of Blues/Gold/Reds
  
  *Specific images or themes for the logo
  Ideally I want a tree to be the principle theme of the logo, possibly bordered by recycling arrows or a similar concept
  I like the idea of the logo in the shape of a circle / bordered by a circle
  
  I have attached a document with some ideas for inspiration! However please feel free to unleash your creativity!
