Resumen de Diseño de Logo

We have a logo but I would like to inject a new colour and style. It's a slight re-branding exercise, plus I'd like to extend the design to our door and foyer vinyl signage (400 x 70 mm). PLEASE NOTE THESE DIMENSIONS as this is what I need to fill. This means extending the concept with something pictorial, or a background wash with bug trail or ?? I need to call it a banner, perhaps. So the LOGO is encompassed in a washed out background for example.

Our business is in Electronic Assistive Technology for people with disabilities. Our Core business is in communication devices. Our logo is a bit arbitrary as is our name, but now stand-alone to represent our business. The logo is in fact a lady-bird bug without legs, developed by an online logo service around 8 years ago. The important elements are the beams - indicating our connectivity, and also the Q is an ON/OFF icon. All our equipment is mobile/portable and utilises Z-wave, Bluetooth, Infra-Red, and speech output so sound waves. Lots of waves and connectivity. The bug is important as a "living" element and we need communication as a key message too. And bugs communicate with their senses I guess.

So there are perhaps a few elements to the task. First would be a change to the existing logo - not too dramatic but modernised and enlivened. I would like the aqua blue added in. It still needs to reference the old logo as this will continue to exits alongside for a time anyway.

If the logo could have the option of perhaps a background - almost a picture then this would fill our signage areas with something more striking. I have in mind water-colour wash with black-line drawing (almost a cartoon style bug). I'll try to upload what's in my head and attempted but I cannot execute because I am not a designed or artist. I also like the idea of a silhouette line drawing in the aqua and orange (with or without grey) in some kind of relevant design. A friend designed came up with the sunflower postcard which I will upload which has been quite colourful and full of life. I have re-coloured it with the colours I have in mind, but it needs your inspiration!
