Our Children Our Families Council

We need a logo and associated color palette for the Our Children Our Families Council (OCOF), a partnership of the San Francisco Mayor's Office (City) and the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD). The Council is an advisory body co-chaired by the Mayor and Superintendent working to break down silos, and align city, school district, and community efforts to improve outcomes for children, youth, and families.
We are an innovative initiative (first-of-its-kind in the nation) with leadership from all key City and SFUSD departments, as well as leading community change agents including higher education, business and philanthropy. We are changing how the City and County of San Francisco and the School District deliver services, share information and fund programs, while also helping our families better access and discovers services they need to thrive.
Core Values
Equity - our focus is on serving San Francisco’s highly diverse population incl. different races/ethnicities, income levels, mental/physical health, etc.
Innovation - San Francisco is known as as bedrock of innovation, and OCOF is an innovative approach within the City focused on delivering results
Systems Change - we are not running programs. We are focused on changing the system of how services are delivered to increase coordination between service providers so that programs can run more efficiently and intentionally.
Family Centered - our families and their needs and futures are the center of all we do
Sum is Greater than the Parts - we believe by breaking down silos and working better together, we can deliver better futures for all our families

Design Principles
Clean, simple, modern and timeless - need logo for multiple uses
Family centered - we hold our families at the core of all we do … though this does not have to be literal (e.g., drawings of families) and can be metaphorical (e.g., tree roots and branches)
Avoid stereotypical imagery used in many of our partner’s logos (or similar logos)

* Stick figures of families

Target Market
We have two key target audiences:
City and School District leaders, policy makers and community leaders. For this audience we want to represent innovation, progress, family-centric, high energy, responsive, highly capable and professional.
San Francisco’s children, youth and families (and those who help them thrive... from teachers to social workers to ministers). We are developing a web-based resource guide to help families find the resources they need to thrive including summer camps, food pantries, child care and job training. For this audience, we want to look trustworthy, credible, approachable, connected and innovative.
