Hi there, the final pages - WALK IN THE SHOES OF A UGANDAN CHILD - should feature Hellen and not Goretti. Hellen's story is below and I'll also upload images. Hellen wakes at 6am and walks for two hours to get to School for Life’s Katuuso campus, where she is given breakfast. She is 14 years-old, although as her mother is illiterate she wasn’t able to keep track of her exact birthday so this is an estimate.

Hellen is the second-youngest child out of 11 siblings. She lives with her mother Veronica, her older sister and her sister’s baby, her older brother and his son, and her younger sister. Her father has remarried and has another six children.

Hellen’s mother sells maize for a living, as well as growing small plots of nuts, beans and peas for her family to eat. Hellen walks around her village selling Kabalagas in the mornings before school (little pancakes made from cassava flour and mashed banana). The house they share is very big for Ugandan standards, and Hellen shares a room with her brother and sister and their babies.

Hellen did well in her last exams, and hopes to study business after she graduates from School for Life. She loves playing netball and singing in the school choir.

After school, Hellen studies while it is still daylight as they don’t have any electricity. She helps her mother with housework before fetching water from a swamp, which is 20 minutes walk away. The swamp water is contaminated so the water must be boiled for 30 minutes before it can be used for washing and drinking. When there is a drought, the swamp runs dry.

The family shares a dinner of cassava, and beans. Hellen’s favourite food is rice.
Around 9pm Hellen and her family go to bed.

On the weekends, Hellen wakes up at 6am and helps her mother dig in the fields. After digging for many hours, they stop for morning tea as a family. Hellen helps her mother prepare lunch on the weekends. On the weekends Hellen’s family often only has one meal a day as food is scarce.
