Dr. Mike Parent, Ph.D., completed graduate school in 2013 as a first generation college student and an international student at the University of Florida. He is an assistant professor in the Counseling Psychology program in the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin. His research focuses on the intersections of gender, sexuality, and behavioral health, and he also researches professional training in psychology.

Tyler C. Bradstreet, M.S., also a first-generation college student, is a doctoral candidate at Texas Tech University in Counseling Psychology. He is currently completing his internship year at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in the APA-accredited Adult Outpatient Psychiatry/Integrated Health Track. His clinical work and research focuses on men’s health, health disparities, and behavioral health interventions. His professional service interests include advocacy for psychology’s role in health care.


This book has three competitors in the same market. The cover should not look like those. So, the cover should not have:
1. A two-tone cover where one of the colors is a deep yellow.
2. A cover that shows figures walking toward a schoolhouse.
3. A two-tone cover with the title in huge letters in the middle of a square.
