Hello all Designers,

I see designs are coming. I thought to add few things today to inspire you.

The most important things in this contest is twofold as follows:

1. "Look and Feel" if the web site

The "look and feel" of the design should be Western (or we call it the Old West, or in casual conversation some people say "Cowboy"). The timeline of this era is 1880-1905. You can look into Google Images for this timeline and you will find millions of pictures that give you an idea of the art in that period.

The sample site (http://www.TheVirginian.net) looks and feels like a Western. It is not the best, in my opinion, but it gives the visitor the feeling.

Actually, your design should not be very graphical. Don''t overdo with lots of images. I am thinking just decorate your design with elements of the Old West. I used to call it ornaments. Again, if you search in Google look for "Western ornaments", you will find so many picture to inspire you.

1880-1905 is a special period in the U.S. The arts, book printing, building constructions, western towns, migration toward the West and reaching California, these are all characteristics of that period.

2. Social-networking and social-sharing.

This is a site for the fans and its contents will be contributed by the fans of "The Virginian" TV show. Fans will come here to learn about the show and view video, listen to music, read fans-generated blogs, view pictures, read famous Quotes from the episodes in the show, etc. Basically, they interact and share.

I could make one analogy. Think this site just like a Facebook group through which every users talks and posts about The Virginian show. The only difference is the software behind the site is not Facebook, but another one.

So, on the Homepage, we should show some activities. I would like to guide you by saying the primary activities (or sections) are fans want to read/view Blogs, Quotes, Photos, Photo Album, and Videos. These will be the primary activities. Then, the secondary activities are Surveys, Music, Links, and Cartoon.

Your design should show sample posts in the primary sections, and come up with a creative way to show the secondary sections, if users want to. Some kind panels?

First, thank you for your contributions. I am overwhelmed. Some designs are breathtaking. There is a lot more to get to the right design, but I wanted to communicate some designs are in the right direction. I mean in the direction as I see it, otherwise, every design deserves a thank you.

I need few hours to let these designs "sink in" my head. I will review them and communicate with you through "Feedback" on the Design Crowd within a day.

Meanwhile, I welcome new designs.
