Making the payment guaranteed will draw higher quality designers giving you a better chance at receiving more quality submissions. Guaranteeing the payment shows that you are serious which means the designers will be more serious as well. If you decide to guarantee the payment please let me know.

Thanks for the reply! This is my first time using a contest website, so I really don't know what to expect or how much confidence to put into this model's ability. I totally understand why you'd want to work only guaranteed jobs. In reality, I'd pay $500 if I knew I was getting a logo that I would really enjoy and that would encapsulate my brand and mission. But guaranteeing $500 as a startup like myself and potentially not finding a single design that meets my criteria is my fear. Even so far, I don't think I've had a single entry that has read my brief thoroughly, with multiple entries including design elements that I said it "must not have" in that section of the brief. I'm really not sure what to do. Anyway, thank you for considering my tremendously. I do still encourage your participation.
