What if only one person responds and i don''t like the design?

It seems like they only give a guarantee if I don''t guarantee. This is a family project, not a company, and i can''t afford to pay regardless of what comes back.

Hi:

Just to respond to your earlier question. These unguaranteed projects are a bit of a catch-22. Since they were introduced about a year ago, I've noticed that they are receiving less and less response from designers. We have similar concerns to you because most of us have at one time or another spent a day designing something only to find that a project owner cancelled. What happens is that designers then tend to just not submit to unguaranteed projects which tends to only fuel a project owner's fear over not getting enough submissions so they cancel the project... which reinforces the designers fear that the client will cancel and so on and so on.

Interesting projects like this should (in my experience) get about 75 or so submissions but an unguaranteed project is likely to get only 10 or so.

If you were hoping for a design that is rather illustrative, then we are probably talking about a half or full day of designing, so to have a project cancel after that is a hard pill to swallow.

Hope this helps

While we consider whether to submit, can you please let us know what sort of style you are looking for? (like a children's picture Torah or even younger like a child's cartoon... or?)

Shalom

Thanks for your comments. What you say makes sense and on this basis I have decided to guarantee the project.

Regarding your question, the style I am looking for is what I might call '' contemporary Israeli'' art style. Something very much like the example I attached; tree of life, or other biblical fruit (pomegranates, grapes, dates etc.) Jerusalem; wandering in the desert, and the themes I attached which show the evolution of the Exodus. Something very similar to the design concept I attached with the Exodus story evolving around the borders; maybe slightly more rounded like a Seder plate. Hope this helps everyone

Can you tell the size of book ( Book format exapmles http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Book_size )? Do you also want illustrations on the back cover?

The cover is 8"x11, standard page size. I hadn''t really thought about illustrations for the back cover, but if i like what the cover looks like i might decide this makes sense. Thanks
