I need a cover design for my book "Night Clouds." It will be a 5 x 8 paperback roughly 200 pages long. There will be 11 short stories in it of a darker nature. The book is a mixture of science fiction, historical fiction, and just interesting to read stories. The stories focus on individuals or people facing difficult situations such as terrifying end of the world scenarios, mortal danger in wars, as well as crushing debt and a job layoff.
I envision the cover with dark colors (blue/black). One suggestion is to have the silhouette of a man outside sitting on a log or hill with him looking slightly down in contemplation. There are dark clouds covering most of the sky, but the stars and/or moon are trying to shine through in one small area. There's a small amount of hope in the gloom.
I see the mood of the cover as darkly reflective.
I will be happy to look at other suggestions, too.
I will also have some text on the back with a small author photo in the middle. I see the back cover as a continuation of the front cover with dark clouds and again the small amount of light from the moon and stars.
I don't want any violence or death in the cover.
I'll be happy to look at suggestions for the back cover area from the designers.

This fascinating collection of short stories is a unique blend of science fiction, action, and historical fiction that will entertain and challenge you.
In Night Clouds’ 11 intriguing stories, we experience one isolated man’s survival as he holds out and awaits the terrifying arrival of otherworldly visitors; firsthand battlefield accounts with some strange occurrences in both WW II and the Revolutionary War; and a tiger hunt in India that goes very wrong. We also see tales of modern woe revolving around some of life’s common miseries, accompanied by brave and unexpected measures to fight against them. In addition, we witness an awkward and dangerous stay in an underground bunker with an unstable host; two astronauts stranded on a lifeless asteroid who only have one old-fashioned form of entertainment; an eerie post-plague world dominated by an unlikely species; and an eccentric astronaut orbiting the Earth who is happiest on his own, except for one furry exception.
Chris Sylvester’s interesting stories travel in different directions, but spring from one deep source: the darker side of the imagination.
I also have an author photo that I would like either below the text or in between, whichever looks better. Feel free to crop it without my hands or whatever looks best.
