I just want to ask if this is some kind of joke? You actually gave my design to someone to directly draw over it, or maybe even it was you who did it and than declare it as a winner? This is a bad bad business and I already sent the report to designcrowd staff. I am not going to upload source files until this issue is resolved. Anyway, I have protected my design with copyright and I'll keep it and will most certainly press legal charges if you try to use it. I will also put this design on sale at one of image stock website. I have no words to express my disappointment with this pathetic and cheap act of yours.

The first comment /   first joke  by you as to  whether we can guarantee the award of USD 300  even before you had sent the first design,  goes to prove, that you will contest any design submitted by any one and tell that  you wanted to get the USD 300 at any cost.    This shows how desparate  and cheap you are and not respecting the   project owner,  other designers or the process of design crowd itself perse. 

There  was no such thing as sending your image and getting it done by some one as I do know any one in this design crowd personally.  Secondly, if we had to copy in the first place, we would have copied   other better designs  and  make cosmetic changes and use it and not copy after spending USD 400. .  All our projects in design crowd are guaranteed even before we launch our project and we immediately clear it too.  If our intention was to avoid payments, we would not guarantee payments at the first instance.

 The designer  who had won the project or any designers in design crowd are not our first cousins to give the award.  Demanding awards is not in the clause nor is the spirit of design crowd. I  think you should understand the process of design crowd first.    This is not our first project in design crowd too and we had no issues in any of our projects.   Probably mere coincidence,  that  it  was close enough and I cant help if two different designers think close enough. 

Secondly, making a kid genie is also a part of the whole project, which you have still not submitted.  When you  have understood only part of the project  itself  how can you claim the first place?.   Still I was fair enough to give you the award inspite of other designers submitting the kid genie too as your adult genie design is better, and we thought of asking you to make changes in the design dress after giving the award. Few of the designers are refusing to make changes before award and hence we gave you the award so that you are paid for the changes. 

 As  such you have every right to  copy protect or do whatever with your creative and we don''t care about it.  I will also immediately take it up with  design crowd and take appropriate action as deem fit so that  our rights are fully protected.

This is truly unbelievable, not only you make a fraud but now you are insulting me for trying to protect my work. First, I didn't ask you to guarantee the payment to me but to guarantee the prize. That way all the designers including myself feel safer and are willing to work on the project as they are sure that at at the end the winner will be declared and there is a chance that they might win. More than 90% of non guarantee projects that I had in my watch list ended without awarding the prize. Many people just pick up some ideas and refund their money. Unfortunately your behavior shows that guaranteed projects are not always safe to participate but we can't predict all.
Secondly I never demanded the prize for myself and I highly respect my fellow designers. I understood project very well but I got the message from you that you first want to have adult genie finalized and than I can work on the other one. I sent revisions with changes as requested but never got the answer or the feedback from you regarding those changes.
And anyone who compare winning design and mine will see that this is not a pure coincidence, the pose, face, hands, fingers, tail, buttons and even plate and bottle are identical. I claim that the winner used my design and traced over it and than changed colors a bit. Of course he or she could get my design only from you. I don't know why you did that and if you know that designer or if you are from same country (as I guess you are), and I honestly don't care. I just don't wan't to be a part of this fraud. So I'll keep my design and will do with it whatever I feel, so please do award second prize to someone else.

This is also truly unbelievable to me too, to see to what extent a designer can go and abuse a process and lovely market place design crowd and besides claim rights.

Here is point wise rebuttal :

1.  The project money was guaranteed at the time of launch of the project itself. So your question of prize money and my reply to you about that I cant guarantee the prize money to you is there for every one to see.

2. About all other contest owners who don''t guarantee prize money and who take away ideas , well  since all our projects we have launched here was guaranteed at the first instance. However,  as per you all designs whatever shit it is, must be selected and awarded  is not acceptable. Also as per your statement, you are questioning the very policy of design crowds process of leaving the choice to the project owners to guarantee or not.  So design crown staff should be the apt people who should reply to you with statistics.

3.  We wanted adult and kids genie. That''s in simple plain English. loud and clear.  If you assume you can do one after another, we cannot  help it.   After the project deadline is over you tell that after adult is approved you will give child genie. All other designers have given both together.   When the project deadline is 10th dec, and you have still not given a single design on child genie?  YOUR LOGIC OF THINKING DOESNT HOLD WATER.

4,  Your assumption of same country,  then why second prize to you??. I should have given to other indian designers the second place.    All our other projects were given to designers who are not Indians even though  number of Indians participate. I do not know  why you go to this extent of abusing the  process of awards just to get the 300 usd,  THIS IS SHEER RUBBISH.  I should call this as a massive fraud .

5. Your design and the award design looks similar. Well  how on earth  will I  know from which source the basic design came from? Two different designers give designs almost similar  I cannot be held responsible. You better sort it out with the designer. 

6. I repeat, we gave the second prize only because it was close enough. Else we would not have given it to you.  

7. If we had to copy we would  have copied the samples we had sent to you, which was far better in quality even compared to the approved design.  The copying cost too would be a fraction of the contest money.

8. We have not provided feedback after your revisions is what you claim. I have provided enough feedback and sent you sample designs too. Even after your revisions, I had  sent you a sample showing how your dress is exactly the same as the design of our national carrier ( should we tell you copied ?/ ).  You just change colour and  you also message very clearly along with the design that you cant think of anything else other than changing colour. IF A DESIGNER SAYS HE CANT THINK FURTHER WHAT CAN THE CONTEST OWNER DO ?  WHAT FEEDBACK SHOULD WE GIVE ON SUCH A STATEMENT. YOUR BEHAVIOUS SHOWS THAT WE HAVE TO FEED YOU WITH ALL IDEAS AND SIMPLY AWARD WHATEVER  DESIGNS YOU GIVE.    WE ARE NOT HERE TO FEED YOU WITH ALL CREATIVES AND FINALLY PAY FOR THAT TOO.

Its a valuable lesson to us too as what extent someone can go just to get additional 200 usd  that too doing half the work or should we say quarter of the work.  I am taking up this with design crowd  very strongly so that no one can abuse  the contest owner, the systems and process of design crowd,  by making  false and fraudulent claims.

I can see that you have no intention to stop insulting me for simply trying to defend my work and rights. I really have no longer interest to waste my time and keep arguing with you over something so obvious as this fraud is. But I can't just read all these insults without saying anything.
1. I don't know how many projects you had on Designcrowd and if they were all guaranteed but this one wasn't guaranteed when I first read brief. I'm not saying that you didn't make it guaranteed but I thought that the contest is right fit for me so I wanted to check if you plan to make it guarantee so I can start working on my proposal. And that's what most designers do. That's why guaranteed projects receive much more submissions. There's no point on keep insisting that I asked for money without sending any proposals as that's simply not true. I didn't demand anything but simply asked if there's any chance that you might do that.
2. The only thing that assumed after not receiving feedback on latest revisions was that you probably found better design so I simply didn't wan't to waste my time on creating another character before I got the feedback from you.
It came as a right decision as I would probably now had to look at two copies of my work.
3. Of course, I always hope to win the contest just as other designers, otherwise we wouldn't participate. But I never expect for sure as I didn't do now that I WILL win. I never asked for first nor second prize. Of course it's always up to client's taste and needs what they will chose.
Yet you keep attacking me for all sorts of things but the only problem here is that I accused you and I still claim that from unknown reason you provided my design to another designer to copy it. That's the fact and you, me, winning designer and everyone who saw this know.

5. I have an idea why you awarded me second prize but I'm not going to make any accusations that I can't prove. What I CAN prove is that the winning design is a blatant copy of my proposal and that you are the one to blame for.
6. I really don't understand how i abused you, or the system and process as you claim, but please do take this up as you say very strongly with designcrowd. I have my files, my pencil drawings, my recorded step by step process of making this design, my final vector files and I will prove that my claims are not false at all.
7. Anyway I have contacted designcrowd already and let them know that I don't want to be a part of this fraud and I'm not going to give you any source files and that I'm not accepting your prize. I received their answer that per my request they de-selected me from the second place and that I keep all the rights to my work. For me, that's all I need. Now I don't have any obligations to this contest and I put my design on sale on one of image stock website. By this I'm ending this issue for now and looking forward to get in touch from designcrowd staff per your report ( I presume that you reported me for making ''false accusations'' or something like that).

oh yes, and maybe you should check the comments list on the winning design page. There you will see that the winner in her reply to another designer admits that she was given my design by you without notifying her that it's made by another participant. She literary says:

secondly,i wanna say just one thing which i have repeatedly said earlier "the project owner sent me the image as a reference image" so i did'nt dreamt that piece of crap ok?
my designs are hardcore original,he said me to take a reference from image provided,how is it possible for me to know from a jpeg that some other designer on DC made this ? there were no such autographs over it.
