I'm looking at some artwork by Ree Drummond. and I notice that she works with watercolor. and ink. Can this technique be used to deliver the work? and scan it with a high resolution?

It's up to you, but I'd prefer electronic, I think. I like the bold, realistic, fun pictures that Ree's illustrator's do. However, I'd ultimately like to work with the same artist that does the character, to illustrate the books, and possibly turn into short movies!? Your 2D / motion expertise sounds like a good fit. I don't think that can be achieved by watercolor.
