Resumen de Diseño Gráfico
We are an IT department at a University that is establishing "digital platforms" as a means to group products and services that we deliver and support by how they are consumed under each platform aligned to a major delivery of the University. This will enable us to manage the support and delivery of these products strategically and to eliminate duplication and waste and makes up the "Digital Strategy" of the organisataion. We have 7 digital platforms with approx 5 > 30 products and services associated to each platform. Each platform will have its own governance within the business. Aligned products will make up a product line.We would like to find a way of simply visualizing both the platform and its associated products/services as well as all of the platforms together that make up the full delivery of the IT department. The intended audience are other Universities, IT departments, our internal business stakeholders and our own IT department, therefore it needs to be at a level to be understood by all.As this is a change to the organization IT delivery the design must be able to be amended (text) and added to (platforms or products) without returning to the designer each time. The look must be technical in nature due to being from an IT department.I have uploaded a couple of our own tries at this but these are far from satisfactory (and now out dated as there are 7 platforms and not 6 as shown) and are to be used to demonstrate further what we are trying to achieve. The 7 Platforms are:1. Student Experience (which is sub-divided into Teaching & learning and Student Journey)2. Research3. Internationalisation4. Enterprise & Innovation5. Core Business6. IT Infrastructure7. Business Intelligence & Information Management
The design will predominantly be used in PowerPoint presentations and word documents accompanied by descriptive text.
I have added some further context below from the functional descriptions of the Digital Platform (apologies for all the text) -
Level 1: Digital Platform (Strategic)
A Digital Platform is formed by a set of processes and products lines that deliver a core differentiating objective of the Coventry University Group, such as Student Experience. The Digital Platform controls the priority, people, processes, data, technologies and governance that support the business objective.
Digital Platforms are governed by both business and IT Services (through established or establishing boards) to ensure maximum focus is applied to strategic aims and operational efficiency; whilst increasing the agility of development and change. Digital Platforms provide the Group with the differentiators required to move from the current state to a more desirable future state. They help drive innovation and competitive advantage achievable only through effective product portfolio solutions.
Level 2: Product Line (Tactical)
The Product Line is the first level of Digital Platform decomposition. The Product Lines align to the work of IT by how it is consumed, not by how it is produced. Product Lines consist of grouped products that enable a specific function to be delivered. An example would be a group of products aligned specifically to Curriculum Management. This grouping into lines enables the holistic view and management of contributing products towards the business objective; collects dependencies into one area; and eliminates waste and duplication.
Level 3: Product (Operational)
Products are decompositions of Product Lines. A product is a technical good, process or service that serves a need or function of the Coventry University Group. It has a combination of tangible and intangible attributes (benefits, features, functions, uses). For example Moodle is not only a software application but also a means to provide teaching, closed group collaboration and notification for students.
A product is owned by the business but managed by IT Product Management – this ensure that products are performing optimally for the business as well as technically within the IT environment. Product management allows us to keep track of products from idea inception to retirement, ensuring high performance, value, and clear accountability in the process.

Requisitos
Debes tener
- Ability to changes text or add /subtract products to a platform
Agradable de tener
- I have attached a document of all products by platform.
- What I would say though is not to bother listing all the products as these will change over time. It might be tidier to show a handful (I don’t know your call on what looks best) and the text backs it up? Don’t forget this will be used in presentations and documents so it’s to be fairly concise but also very clear ??
No debería tener
- Can not be free hand or use animation (cartoon characters etc)
- Must not replicate the designs that i have already done and shared as part of the brief
