Resumen de Diseño de Flyer
Hi,
I provide a full design brief (below, please scroll) and a mood board (attached) to help you visualize inside my head.. ;-)
I am also available to help and have worked many years in advertising; we will understand each other.
Objective:
To design an A4 folded in two presentation brochure for a non-profit consulting agency called Col-lab.
Col-lab works in sustainability and international development = working with NGO’s, governments and private sector on global issues such as global warming, education for all etc.
Strategy:
This document is a first step in developing a communication strategy. It will be distributed during a major international event called the EU Development Days.
Objective:
The double objective of the brochure is:
a) to inform the recipient of what Col-lab is, in the shortest time possible.
b) to showcase relevant projects to demonstrate Col-lab experience and expertise.
Target:
Main target:
Existing Col-lab contacts, such as members of development organizations, NGOs, private sector foundations (CSR), regional networks and other development actors.
NB: the main target already has a certain awareness of Col-lab: we will try to minimize text to maximize visual impact and readability.
Secondary target:
Col-lab will also distribute the brochure to new prospects of interest during the EU Dev Days.
Timing:
We will need to finalize the design and have the files by June 1st to allow time for print before the event.
Content:
The document should be concise, highly readable (no clutter) and include:
1. text (that we will provide)
and
2. visual elements such as images, shapes and info-graphics (that is you).
NB: Col-lab does not have its own image bank; photos will be provided by you.
Format:
A4 folded in half - 4pp A5 - PORTRAIT FORMAT) with an impactful visual in the front, logo, title and headline (please see examples in the mood board attached).
Design elements:
Col-lab does not have yet a visual identity (please see: http://col-lab.org) so there is room for creativity and no graphic chart to follow.
The sector of consulting in international development is rather conservative but our intention is to be disruptive and create a “Wow” effect. We count on you for that!
Therefore, the design should be “structured”, “organized”, “uncluttered” but also “modern”, “impactful”, “highly visual” (think infographic or mind map to describe our services and projects).
Please, take the time to see the attached presentation: I give you guidelines and examples of what we want and what we like.
We are looking forward to seeing your work and I am available for comments, questions and support.
Thank you.

Actualizaciones
Hi everyone,
Thank you for the designs you sent; you clearly followed the brief and we received some cool initial creative directions.
However, we noted that some designs were oriented towards a very corporate image. This may be my mistake because I selected "consulting" as our industry. It is true that we are consultants, but in international development (working with United Nations, NGO's) so I updated and changed the industry to NGO. Now the implications for design:
- let's try to avoid images of corporate people in the Western world, wearing suits. We are looking for:
either visuals of the people whose life we want to change; healthy, smiley, people in the developing world or non descript images
either visuals of us at work, but think more "chinos, co-working space" than corporate office.
- an other aspect is risk taking; I understand that design is time consuming and this is a contest. But please, take a chance and insert some design elements of your own; shapes, backgrounds, icons, unusual layout. This is what we are going to select you on; your creativity. And that can only be done if you show it.
To help you with that, I have modified the feel to push the bill towards more creativity:
- more "personable than professional"
- more "playful than "serious / corporate"
- more colorful than conservative. For colors, think "clay, savanna, earthy, without going green like an ecologist...it's overdone. ;-)
- I have also reduced the color options in the brief to guide you.
I truly hope this helps. Some of you are close. We are getting there!
We look forward to seeing revisions.

Requisitos
Debes tener
- - Design and color elements: please, no black and white. Our company website is in black and white and without graphics; we want the brochure to break away from that and start creating our brand identity; so please, show us colors and desing elements (shapes, backgrounds, etc).
- You have a chance to showcase your talent in terms of visual identity: what lines, forms, layout and colors can you come up with and apply throughout the brochure and serve as the visual identity of Col-lab?
- The structure of the document should be:
- - Front cover: design elements + impacful photo (see mood board example attached) +our logo + this headline: "Collective action for sustainable development and impact"
- - Inside front: a graphic representation of "Our Services": such as core activity in the center circle and satellite circles for the services we offer.
- - Inside back:
- 1. Icons and text boxes for "Our projects"
- 2. A world map of the countries where we have worked. Full list of countries is here:
- - Back cover: our contact + logos of partners.
- Our partners are listed here:
- Please use their original logos (ie, in color).
- The design we will select will serve as a basis for a graphic chart...so more work to come...word to the wise ;)
- Please check out our website col-lab.org to see what we do etc.
Agradable de tener
- Icons to reflect our services: what icons can you come up with to describe "training services", "building networks" or "program management"?
- I give examples in the mood board.
No debería tener
- We are open to creativity and want to generate a "Wow" effect.
- Just note that the sector is rather conservative so flashy colors and cartoon like characters should be avoided. Think "earth, global change, United Nations, climate" without going too green (it's overdone). ;-)
- Make us stand out in the NGO world
- Now you.
