Please clarify the size of the book. is it 13 x 9.4 x 0.5 in. or 13x6x0.5 in. ??

If these are the dimensions of the book front is 6 inches wide, spine is 0.5 inches and back is 6 inches wide. Wouldn't the book be 12.5inches instead of 13 inches ?Or is the spine 1inch ?

Yes spine should be 1 inch. Please check the PSD file which you can download for exact specs at link above.
