The BASIS study: which stands for "the Bracing AdoleScent Idiopathic Scoliosis study", will be a landmark NHS UK randomised clinical trial comparing two types of braces for curvature of the spine in children aged between 10-16 years. One type of brace will be for all day wear, and the other will be for night time only wear. We hope to show that both braces are equally effective, so both will be funded on the NHS. The aim of brace treatment is to avoid extensive high risk spinal surgery.
Purpose: This logo will be used on all clinical trial materials (eg. information leaflets, posters, website, powerpoint presentations)
Logo brief:
i) must contain the acronym study name: "BASIS" ("the" and "study" preferred)
ii) must black, white, and 1-2 colours max (for printing costs)
iii) target audience friendly (10-16 year old girls and boys)
iv) preferred incorporation of a scoliosis curved spine ( Scoliosis is an S shaped curve looking from the front or back - NOT from the side)
v) preferred incorporation of a rigid scoliosis brace (NOT adjustable fabric type)
vi) preferred incorporation of day and night logos (both need to be equally represented if to this feature is to be included at all.
I have uploaded my attempt of trying to put these ideas together. I have also included some logos drawn by some of our current patients. I have included images of what scoliosis braces look like, some affiliate national organisation for inspiration (BSS and BASS), and a similar recent study with a logo we like "the SCIENCE study"
Logos will be shorted listed by our patient and parent focus group. And the final logo will be chosen by popular vote by our clinic patients.
