Resumen de Diseño de Logo
We are looking for logos to represent 3 entities: Fernie Nordic Society, Elk Valley Nordic Centre, Fernie Nordic Racers.
The Fernie Nordic Society is a non-profit organization that was formed in 2006 with the intention of promoting and expanding nordic skiing in the town of Fernie and the surrounding Elk Valley. The FNS maintains three trail locations in partnership with local landowners. A Kids Skill Development program is offered throughout the winter season, providing affordable ski lessons to kids starting at age 3. The FNS is working continuously to identify opportunity to enhance nordic skiing in the community through trail expansion, program development and event coordination.
The Elk Valley Nordic Centre is the physical system of core ski trails (currently in development) and is the facility where the children’s lessons and community race events take place as well as provides a place for the membership and public to ski on well-maintained, quality trails. The Centre will (in future) be home to a day lodge/club house/warming hut (a physical building). The Elk Valley Nordic Centre is maintained and funded in part by the Fernie Nordic Society. It is located on the mountain side, in the forest, beside a river.
The Fernie Nordic Racers are the group of children and adults (age 10+) who have chosen to further their athletic development by participating in dry land training and multiple races, competitions and events throughout the season. This group represents Fernie’s Nordic community at out of town races. They will be wearing uniforms that display the logo.
We are looking for a designer that can create a different logo for each identity. These 3 logos must be cohesive and in a similar style so the public will recognize that they are associated.

Hi Designers!
We have updated the brief,just to clear up our expectations. Please read it before you submitdesigns.
We are asking that yousubmit all 3 logos at once.
-all 3 logos must use thecolours we have provided in the brief, Navy Blue as main, Aqua Blue as 2ndmain, Red as accent.
-all 3 logos should usethe same font. We are looking for bold, modern, easy to read, not italic.
The colours, font andstyle are the elements that should tie the 3 logos together. The shape and pictorial elements of each logoshould be different.
Here is some moreinformation about the 'feeling' and specifics of what we are hoping to capturewith each logo.
Fernie Nordic Society: wewould like this to represent our community in general. An emblem with amountain (snow capped mountain with sunrise, forest/river in front, etc).The text 'Fernie Nordic Society' should be clearly displayed within/across(in a banner, or not) the logo.
Elk Valley Nordic Centre:we would like to have the feeling of a place where history and traditions willbe made. Think Scandinavian rustic timber frame ski lodge with antlersmounted above the door, drinking hot cocoa in your flannel shirt on the frontporch while you tell stories of the days’ skiing adventures! Doesn't thatsound fun?! We would like to seea crest/circle/emblem with elk antlers, a majestic elk head or elk silhouette,perhaps with a mountain/forest/river in the background. The text ‘Elk Valley Nordic Centre’ should beclearly displayed within/across the logo.
Fernie Nordic Racers: wewould like to see something very modern and cool! We are training high level athletes. If you are not familiar with Nordic skiing,turn on the Olympics! This sportrequires high levels or power, speed, endurance and athleticism. The Racers are not your average family outfor a Sunday ski shuffle around the golf course. We suggest a crest/circle/emblem featuring aNordic skier silhouette (we really like the file attached to the brief, ‘NordicSkier Silhouette 2’), possibly with mountains in the background. The text‘Fernie Nordic Racers’ should be clearly displayed within/across the logo. (similar to file ‘Racers Silhouette’). We wouldn’t mind seeing skis (make sure theyare cross country skis, not downhill skis) or ploes crossed in the backgroundof the logo.
We like the idea of usinga little maple leaf(s) in the logo to add a bit of red accent. (for those ofyou not in Canada, reference the Canadian flag).

Our Target Audience is anyone who enjoys being physically active in the outdoors! Nordic skiing is an activity that can be enjoyed by anyone, of any age, at any level of fitness. Our brand must appeal to families, athletes, weekend warriors, children, teens, parents, and grandparents.

- Colours to be included are:
-navy blue as the main colour,
-aqua blue as the 2nd main colours
-red as an accent colour
Each one of these colours is required in each logo.
-black & white as needed.
The design must also look good in black and white.
The HTML colours are attached as a file. Please use these colours or colours very close to these.
The logo will be used in print (business cards, letterhead, brochures, maps), online (website, social media), merchandise (branded apparel, ski sleeves, stickers, embroidered patches), signs (trail signs, race banners).
The logo needs to translate to screen printing and embroidery.
The logos should be clean, simple and modern. They need to convey the feeling that Nordic skiing is a fashionable sport yet accessible and to be enjoyed by everyone, at any age. The logos need to be something that we can display and wear with pride!
The logo for the Fernie Nordic Racers should represent more of a youthful athletic design, while being modern and cool. Think more of x-games or snowboarding brands than those of high school/college athletics.

- Mountains, snowflakes, crests with mountainous elements or skis could be included. The logo for the Elk Valley Nordic Centre could include images of elk (we live in what is called the “Elk Valley” – there is a large elk population, but the important landmark through the town is also the Elk River. The town is surrounded by mountains and forest).
Attached are stock images as examples of what kind of feel we are looking for.
No debería tener
- Please no images of swooping Nordic skiers in motion. This had been done. We are looking for something bold and new.
No 'glossy' looking text or lots of shading. This will not work well when embroidered.
Attached file is our current logo. We are looking for something much different!
