My family owns a farm in Texas. We practice regenerative agriculture and sell the proteins we produce direct to the public. Part of our mission is to educate the people we come in contact with about regenerative agriculture. Regenerative farming involves following nature's design plan to raise crops or animals for food that is healthy to each and which results in improvements to the farm ecosystem that benefit the overall ecosystem. We use no fertilizers, insecticides, pesticides, herbicides or antibiotics in the production of our animals. We would like to develop an icon that symbolizes what we do. The name of our farm enterprise is fingerprint farms. We believe in science. We believe that science reveals God's creation to us. We believe that if we strive to manage our farm in alignment with God's design we can humanely produce good food that is good for us and the environment we live in. The Icon I would like to develop should resemble in some fashion a fingerprint. It could be a literal representation of a fingerprint or an interpretive representation of a fingerprint. At the center of the graphic, there should be the word Sun. Then I would like to see these words, in this order, radiating out or around the "Sun": Plants, Animals, Soil, Ecosystem, Health. I would also like the Icon to contain the title, Regenerative Fingerprint. The sun is at the center of the system as it provides all of the energy that drives the system. The plants are next in succession, they convert the sun's energy and carbon into proteins and sugars that can be used to feed animals and microbes in the soil. The animals and soil microbes are next in succession. The animals manage the plans to keep them productive and growing. Their guts are full of microbes, like those in the soil, and they convert the plants into nutrients that feed the plants and soil microbes. Managing the animals in a manner that reflects the natural patterns of wild animals that existed before man began practicing agricultural production, leads to improvement of the ecosystem without the use of man made toxic chemicals. The soil is next in the succession, the animals are necessary to tend the plant garden, convert its energy into food for people and microbes and improve the soil so it can infiltrate and preserve water, sequester carbon, feed microbes that feed the plants. By improving the soil, the ecosystem is improved so that it can be more productive over time, without the use of man made toxic chemicals that strip the ecosystem of life. Finally, by improving the ecosystem we improve our own health. As such, health is the end benefit of the cycle. The plants, animals, microbes and people get to live in an ecosystem that is conducive to their health and improves their lives. We are a small operation and do not have a huge budget for this type of thing. We hope that the icon that is designed will help us to educate the people around us about the creation we have been given the responsibility of stewarding and how each of us in many ways can contribute to the improvement of the world we live in. As such, we would be sharing the icon for use by persons that desire to participate in changing agricultural practices used to feed, restore and preserve the world we live in.
