Resumen de Diseño de Logo
I need a logo design for my campaign for Palo Alto (California) School Board. I am a bi-racial, Asian American mom of two young children and my messaging will have to do with equity, collaboration, community, mental health, wellness, and fostering a love of learning / engagement in school. There are no people of East Asian decent on the school board currently - it would be interesting to see a logo with a subtle nod to my Chinese American heritage. I am also relatively new to the community and I will likely address that by framing myself as a "new vision" / "new ideas".
BUT, I don't want any other words on the logo other than "Nicole Chiu-Wang for Palo Alto School Board".
I'd like to use a Gold/Marigold Yellow (see screenshot), black/grey/white color scheme. And, it may be that the yellow is nod enough to my Asian American heritage.
I'll be using this logo on my website, printed flyers, mailers, lawn sighs and t-shirts.
Here are some guidelines I have been advised to follow:
- Prominently place your name and the office you are running for: Keep it simple! It needs to be memorable as folks are driving past your lawn signs at speed and from a distance.
-Get creative, play with bolding and heavier fonts and choose something that will stand out in a crowd (and especially at night).
-Resist temptation and avoid mimicking Presidential logos: I would discourage mimicking any of the logos that you see from Presidential candidates in the last cycle.
-Select a maximum of 3 colors: Too many colors becomes too busy and more costly to print.
-Include unique features that your audience can identify with: The trick with this one is find something that makes you unique. If your City's symbol is a tree, and all of your opponents have an outline of a white evergreen tree on a dark green background, that will be a problem. However, it's encouraged to include features (ideally 1 color tone) that allow folks to identify your campaign with a "sense of home."
