This is better indeed. My concern is the whole logo works well on paper, but would not be that great on digital supports like PPT, websites ... Maybe the fonts and overall drawing stile should be tuned to address that ? You can see by yourshelf: woth the grainy paper background it looks great, much less on a plain white or coloured background.
