Resumen de Diseño de Logo
UPDATE: A lot of you are making a lot of similar, uninspired choices like putting a "brain" in there to represent "knowledge." Way too obvious and boring and not what I'm looking for. Avoid brains, lightbulbs and books unless you are REALLY creative about it. I don't like any of those ideas. Also, please don't do the "stylized E" thing that so many of you always do... I hate that. BE CREATIVE and outside the box.
I've started a new Substack, which is a publication and newsletter service as I'm sure you already know. The billing on the page, which is called "Pretense of Knowledge," is that it will explore the complexities of politics, economics, demographics, history, geopolitics, and culture.
It is intended to be a place where thoughtful, in-depth writing will happen that examines things happening in the world around us. As the subjects I listed probably make clear, the content will be focused on what is happening in current events, with a fair amount of history, in most of the social sciences.
The source of the name is explained in the about page (https://pretenseofknowledge.substack.com/about), but the short version is that it comes from a noble lecture from economist Friedrich Hayek. He was talking about the assumption by many that they knew enough about complex matters (such as in the case of economics) to describe, and perhaps manipulate, but that they just didn't know what they would need to know to truly understand what they claimed to.
Put another way: a lot of "experts" want us to believe they can plan and engineer society a certain way, but in order to do so they would have to know things they just can't... so their claims to "know" are merely a pretense. They don't really know what they claim to.
Thus the Substack will try to explore and talk about all those complexities and unknowns in politics, economics, demographics, etc, to better understand the world without pretense.
So what do I want the logo to be? The final design should probably be pretty text based, and have a "square" version as well as a long-width "wide" version accompanying it. Blue and gold would be my preferred colors, and it should communicate intelligence, thoughtfulness, exploration, etc.
Outside that I'm not going to really put too many parameters in place because I want this to be CREATIVE on your part. Don't slap something together for me... I want GOOD submissions that designers thought about a little. Don't be afraid to be abstract or unconventional... in fact that is probably encourageable. But if you have a more mundane design that's fine too.
Do your best!
