Resumen de Diseño Gráfico
As part of a full restoration, I need to reproduce a design of a retro graphic for an 80's Australian caravan (a 'trailer' in the USA), which will be printed on vinyl and applied to a front protector shade on the caravan.
I am looking for an accurate reproduction of the original design, using similar colours to those used in the past. (EDIT: I have a design submitted that satisfies the reproduction brief. To save people doing exactly the same thing. I am now only looking for original designs, as per the description below).
I'm happy to consider designs that reflect the original 80's design, but show a fresh perspective for those that would like to get creative. This might be a modern take that reflects the period, or perhaps a design that the designer of the day might have gone with if they had the technology we have today to reproduce it in vinyl (the original was hand painted, so had to be kept simple to reproduce it easily). A simple brief is to capture the fun and the vibe of the late 70's/early 80's, as this is what we plan to do in the whole restoration. Any creative design should try to incorporate the green and gold on the side of the van, as these will be retained through the restoration. Preference will be given to a design that can keep the 'Grand Tourer' text in its original font (Bookman Std Italic, customised) and original position position, so other people familiar with the van can recognise the reference to the original design. Search for 'viscount grand tourer decal' and you'll see plenty examples of the original text online.
In the attached files you'll find a picture of our early 80's caravan that is being restored. In the image the protector shade is painted with two angled stripes and the white has yellowed, and has been highlighted in the image with two red arrows, just to be clear. That is the area I will be covering with this design (printed to vinyl). Also attached are examples of the original design I am looking to reproduce.
The protector shade is 2110mm wide, and 570mm high. Included in these measurements is the aluminium trim around the protector shade, which is 25mm wide.
EDIT: An image named profile.png has been added. This shows a close up of the protector shade the vinyl wrap will be applied to. This is to show the profile of the aluminium sheet the protector shade is made from. The pitch (the distance between two crowns, which effectively is the same distance over one crown and one trough) is 100mm. It is recommended bleed is allowed for in any design. If the design is intended to align a particular distance from the edge of a crown or trough, it is recommended additional bleed is allowed for top and bottom, allowing extra vertical movement so the vinyl can be positioned correctly,
