STYLE REQUESTED: Abstract and colorful; designers are welcome to get creative. Note that the memoir takes place largely in a poor African American city.

BOOK SUMMARY: As a young girl, Acamea Deadwiler—or “Camey” to her friends and family—discovers the man she thought was her father wasn’t, and her real biological father wants little if anything to do with her. What follows is the story of a girl’s longing, a longing disturbed by abuse, disappointment, and loneliness.
Set against the backdrop of Gary, Indiana—the then “murder capital of the world”—Daddy’s Little Stranger follows Acamea as she searches and grows, following a path that eventually leads her to self-discovery and self-confidence.
