Design Brief: Full Vehicle Wrap for VW ID. Buzz Cargo – Balloon Crew Vehicle with Off-Road Adventure Theme
Project Goal
We are looking for a creative and eye-catching design for a full or partial wrap of our new VW ID. Buzz Cargo, which will be used as a chase and support vehicle for our hot air balloon team. The design should immediately communicate that this is a balloon crew vehicle, while also reflecting a sense of adventure, off-road capability, and modern aviation.
About Us
We are a professional hot air balloon team operating under the label “Stehplatz am Himmel” (which roughly translates to “Standing Room in the Sky”). We offer high-visibility advertising on hot air balloons and conduct spectacular balloon flights across Germany.
Our newest addition is a fully electric VW ID. Buzz Cargo – a vehicle that perfectly aligns with our vision of modern, sustainable, and adventure-ready aviation on the ground.
The Vehicle
Model: VW ID. Buzz Cargo (short version, model year 2025)
Engine: Fully electric (EV)
Modifications:
Adjustable air suspension (lifted)
Off-road wheels
4x4 all-wheel drive
Base color: White
Wrap type: Full or partial wrap possible (can integrate the original white as part of the design)
Design Requirements (Must Haves)
Hot Air Balloon (Capital Group branding)
Large, visually dominant on both sides of the vehicle
Represents the balloon transported inside the van
Logo "Standing Room in the Sky" German
Clearly visible on the rear of the vehicle
Optional placements on the side or front, but rear is mandatory
Instant recognition as a balloon crew vehicle
Should clearly convey that this is a balloon chase/support vehicle
Wording like “Balloon Crew,” Balloon Team. Big on the side
Look & Feel

White base color can remain partially visible for contrast

Vector-based design files (.AI, .EPS or . PDF preferred)
Designs should cover all visible sides of the vehicle (left, right, front, back – roof optional)
Must follow actual vehicle contours and window restrictions
Mockups of the final look are highly encouraged
Timeline
Project start: Immediately after briefing approval
First drafts: within 7 days
Finalization: within 14 days after receiving feedback
What We Want to Achieve
This vehicle is our mobile calling card – whether at events, on country roads, or on social media. It should be recognizable from afar, and spark curiosity. The design should combine technical precision with visual excitement. Anyone who sees this vehicle should instantly think: “Wow – an adventure in the sky must be nearby!”
Actualizaciones
The concepts by HATEM and VEDG are closer to our vision – especially the idea of showing the Capital Group branding on the balloon prominently and partially cropped. That's a great start and matches our expectations.
What still needs improvement:
Vehicle design: The overall look should have a much stronger adventure / event / off-road feel. Think of it more like a rugged expedition vehicle or a mobile adventure base.
The word “CREW”: This should appear large and clearly visible, ideally also cropped or integrated as a bold design element. It needs to really stand out.
Back of the vehicle: This is where our agency logo “Stehplatz am Himmel” will go – either full-sized or large and cropped, but definitely prominent.
Colors: We would like the color scheme to align with the branding on the balloon. Specifically:
