Project Overview

We are a natural dog bakery focused on simple, healthy ingredients and earth-friendly packaging. As the first step in a rebrand, we are redesigning our 6 oz stand-up pouch using new compostable packaging materials.

New pouch is the same size and structure as current (template provided)
Files included:
Existing Art template (PDF + JPG)
Photos of current packaging (for reference only)
Copy of existing logo (Paws Gourmet Bakery)
Copy of future logo (4 Paws Natural Bakery)

This redesign should feel like a clear upgrade—more refined, more intentional, and more aligned with sustainability.

⚠️ IMPORTANT LAYOUT CONSTRAINT (PLEASE READ)
The new pouch has a full-width horizontal window.
Design elements may ONLY appear above and below the window
No design elements can be placed to the left or right of the window

A 4.5" W x 3.5" H blank space above the window must be preserved
This is reserved for applied product labels
Keep this area completely clean (no textures, patterns, or graphics)

Submissions that ignore these elements will not be considered.

Brand Direction & Style
We are looking for a design that feels:
Natural and ingredient-focused
Eco-conscious and sustainable
Clean and elevated (not rustic, not overly playful)
Warm and trustworthy

Avoid:
Neon or bright artificial colors
Loud, busy, or overly commercial designs
Cartoon-heavy or overly whimsical styles

Color Direction
Our current packaging is kraft brown, but the new material allows full-color printing. We are looking for:
Nature-inspired colors only
Greens, muted blues, warm browns, soft earth tones
Background color is flexible within this palette

Must work with:
Current logo: Paws Gourmet Bakery
Future logo: 4 Paws Natural Bakery
👉 For this project, use Paws Gourmet Bakery logo only

Front of Pouch Requirements
Do NOT include logo on pouch front
(Logo will be on applied labels)
Required Elements
Tagline: Simple, Healthy Ingredients. Earth Friendly Packaging.
Compostable Messaging (REQUIRED):
Must clearly communicate that packaging is compostable
Optional placement:
Tear-off strip near hang hole
BUT must also appear somewhere on the main pouch design
Origin Callout:
“Hand Made in the Pacific Northwest”
Can be a badge, stamp, or graphic (open to redesign)
Icons (Highly Encouraged)
We would like to explore a clean, minimal icon set for:
No Corn
No Wheat
No Soy
No GMOs
Compostable Packaging
(Keep icons simple, clean, and consistent with natural aesthetic)

Back of Pouch Requirements
Messaging Direction
Do NOT use: “The healthiest pet bakery in the US”

Instead, build around:
Simple, Healthy Ingredients. Earth Friendly Packaging.
Content
“Our Recipes” bullet points (from current packaging – still valid)
Sustainability messaging:
Include reference to reducing our “carbon pawprint”
Emphasize eco-friendly materials and practices

Design Direction
Open to new layout and graphics
Should visually reinforce:
Clean ingredients
Natural sourcing
Sustainability

Printing Considerations
Design should be mindful of production scalability:
Should translate well to both digital and roto printing
Avoid overly complex gradients or excessive color layering

Creative Freedom (Important)
While we have outlined structure and constraints, we are intentionally leaving visual interpretation open.
We welcome:
Fresh layout ideas
Refined graphic elements
Elevated visual storytelling

We are especially interested in designs that feel:
Thoughtful
Clean
Naturally premium

Any design submission that includes loud, neon, or "aggressive" color schemes or a mass market appeal will be eliminated immediately. We are a premium, natural dog bakery found in independent stores only.

UPDATED & IMPORTANT DESIGN REQUIREMENTS (PLEASE READ)
This pouch is a base design used across all flavors. A separate product label will be applied.
A clearly defined blank area must be left for label placement (do not incorporate into artwork).
The product viewing window is fixed:
Size and placement must match the template exactly
Do not resize, reposition, or redesign the window
Designs that do not follow these requirements will not be considered.
