Project Brief: “BEAM Philharmonic – Conducting Concurrency”
1. Concept & Visual Composition

This concept connects the venue, PHIL Haarlem, with the core strength of the BEAM virtual machine: orchestrating millions of concurrent, lightweight, isolated processes.

Central Figure:
A conductor standing on a podium, viewed dynamically from behind and below, with the baton raised high in full performance action.

Orchestra as Processes:
Instead of traditional musicians, the stage features music stands holding glowing, interconnected process nodes, with message-passing lines such as !/send flowing between them.

Instrument Sections:
The main BEAM languages represent different orchestra sections:

Elixir: Droplet icons representing the strings section
Erlang: Classic Erlang logos representing the woodwinds section
Gleam: Star logos representing the brass section
Visual Style & Effects:
Vintage 1970s concert-poster line art combined with sharp vector accents. Motion waves resembling code loops and audio frequencies radiate from the conductor’s baton, reinforcing the themes of concurrency, communication, and orchestration.

2. T-Shirt Placement & Application

Front:
The front of the T-shirt will feature the complete “BEAM Philharmonic” artwork. The composition should be designed specifically for a single front print and should remain visually balanced within the available print area.

The front artwork should include:

The conductor and podium
The process-based orchestra
Interconnected message-passing lines
The visual representation of Elixir, Erlang, and Gleam
The title: “Conducting Concurrency”
The sub-line: “PHIL Haarlem • Code BEAM Europe”
Back:
Completely blank. No graphics, text, logos, or other printed elements should appear on the back of the T-shirt.

3. Assets & Designer Notes
