The author wants a basic cover, like old style Penguin paperbacks - two colours, name of book in middle and a little graphic at the bottom. The book is a 1920s murder mystery set in India. The main location of the book is a colonial mansion. The picture gives some idea of what the author has in mind for the mansion.

Foreground is lawn, background is sky. A palm tree and a house is all that is needed.

Target audience is older people with an interest in murder mystery.

Illustration should be realistic.

A British colonel is investigating a murder. He's a policeman. 1920s.

Title and author are largely irrelevant, but It's two novellas rolled into one book. Same colonel doing the investigations in both stories. One story is called Murder in Maidussuri the other is called The body in the nullah. Author Bill Pine.

The brief is only for the small picture, but if you wanted to do a whole cover, then be my guest. Unfortunately time is restricted. I could go another day or two.
