For 15 Alien emotiocns, It is fine to use same alien with different emotion or action. Or, it is also fine to have several variations of alien. Attached file is reference an alien I would like to have for my app.For 15 Sad emoticons, It could be any emoticon, could be represented via orthodox yellow-face emoticon, facebook-like emoticon animal, or else. BUT it needs to express sad in 15 emoticons.
