Yes this is just for the design.
I'll be doing my own coding.

I actually don't know of any sites that I want mine to look like.
All I can really tell you is that it needs to be uncluttered.

Once I've seen some designs I can probably be more helpful in terms of what I think works and what doesn't.

Also, check the rough logo I uploaded for an idea of the imagery / aesthetic.
