I have no especific animal in mind, but I do like the notion of a beast with a wide cinic smile. In the animals category, I really like foxes and eagles. Also, one thing I forgot to add to the description, I think a horizontal oriented logo is the way to go for layout purposes.(Totems are usually represented with a vertical orientation)
