Your project really sounds interesting both from work and the money perspective , i would really like to submit my designs for the same , before that i have some questions for you.

I took a look at http://intermine.squarespace.com/ now im listing down my understanding please correct me if i am wrong.
1. create a user account in squarspace and find out what and how the site can customized.
2. You would like us to re-style the current logo to something like its original logo from this era:

4. there are some screenshots in the homepage ( filecencus , file archive.....) what do you want us to do with those

Yes, we are using squarespace for our hosting so creating a free account and taking some screenshots of the design is the way to go. I had awarded 1st prize to the "first past the post" designer who had followed the design brief, but I suspect the 2nd place design will what we run with for the foreseeable future.

The logo has been stylized from the base one a few times over the years. Since we are coming out with 3 products having a logo that works well with the logos for the new and existing products for the upcoming v5 of the software is important.

We have grown a little attached to the colors and lines over the years but yes, something bold and new for the future is what I suspect is going to get the "2nd prize" for this comp, and 2K is still a pretty good 2nd place.

I will grab some raw screenshots and post them for some additional material to work with over the next day or so.

The links on the top of the website need a graphic, not so much a square like what is running currently, more like a classic banner add or even banner add x2 height, something where you can start to read the text on a laptop resolution screen.

For the flatiron template there does not seem to be a way to add a banner to the navigation area. Apparently this must be done through the style mode and for this layout there are no options to add a banner.

I can stylize the fonts and height of the logo in the header only. Unless there is a way to advance the pages with header code and force the header to accept banner images and change the height. I think though by doing this, this will push the project details down to have the banner on top. Please look at http://flatiron-demo.squarespace.com/read-me/ for customizations available for this template.

So, I'm not sure how I can design the banner for you because I can't fit it on the template nor really have a way to create it into the overall design. Do you have suggestions?

I asked a question almost a week ago with no answer and you mentioned that you would put these screenshots up last week before the last closed date; this is only being done now to extend the contest date and still there are no screenshots and URL for instructions.

I have submitted a design and did not get any feedback, and I spent time to do this, like others.

I've noticed you haven't even looked at the site I put up as per your brief; not just a screenshot, but a site, working. Fine don't give me the feedback but at least take a look! (squarespace has a stats with visitors check)

I think I'll give this contest a rest; because now you want a banner that won't fit and new screenshots to be designed in with another extension of the contest that will no doubt lead to another extension.
