Resumen de Diseño Gráfico

Hi Shabbir, We are now set to start the next publication in a series of many. You are our first choice because you are familiar with the layout and design of the publication. We hope you can produce a design piece that equals if not improves on the previous article.

I've refined the content to make it easier and more efficient for you to complete this project.

The Article:

1. Please go with the mid-blue/gray color as the primary color to be used through the layout, as was done with the green in the first project.

2. I’ve slimmed down the document file of the article to include only what you need. You’ll notice that I have a file of images (high resolution) which I want to use with the text. We appreciated the additional image selections you made in 'Vested Vermin' and would like you to do the same again for this publication.

3. Please remember to include the title page (with brief quotation) and introduction, The design brief file has each page numbered in the order they should appear through the book.

4. Please retain all captions with the images I contributed.

5. Although we are looking to stay with the various signatures design elements that carry on from the first project – such as the logo at bottom, page number tabs, banners/vectors, etc… I still hope we can, at the same time, keep it fresh with new vector ideas, image fades, text wrapping, etc…

Remember that the entire booklet will be about war and conflict and that is seen and felt throughout the design process (as compared to Vested Vermin which had twelve separate themes throughout).

The difference between each chapter will be the different wars that took place. Example: WW I will have a lot of black and white images of infantry men in muddy trenches and such, while in the Gulf War we see a lot of sand, desert, humvees and marines, all of which are well associated with those conflicts and can really paint the picture for each chapter. The images I provided are only the ones I would like to see in it. I hope we can add others where appropriate or necessary.

The Poetry:

1. You will notice I have a separate image file for this section, and within it is separate files of images for each poem. I have labeled each file with the poem name, along with the war it is to be tagged with. In vested vermin, the you had each poem with a tab at the top labeled with the subject matter – such as the poem ‘The Equation’ and the top tab was labeled ‘Finance’. We have decided to stop using tabs altogether for the poetry pages.

2. In ‘Vermin’ many of the titles used a ‘paint splashing’ effect behind the title, and also the text is within a shaded box. This time around we can do away with those two elements. We want each poem title to be unique with own font / effect that reflects that particular war if possible.

3. I want to go with the layout for the following poems (to make use of more imagery and lend more feel for the war) :
- Double page layout for first three: SALLOON'S TEN YUEN PURE OPIUM BREW, TRENCH and BLACKSMITH
- Single page layout for each of the next two: PORT OF AUTHORITY, PROXY WARS
- Double page layout for each of the next two: BAY OF PIGS, WARZONE
- Single page layout for next two: SOVIET SPARTAN, IN THE PATAGONIAN SHELF
- Double page layout for; GULF
- Single page layout for last two: JOHN VIOLENCE, BARRICADES
Note: for double page poems please keep title and text all on one page, not spread on two, unless the poem is too long.

4. For the “The Conceptual Novelty Collection” final page, please keep it the same basic design as we created for the first project, maybe just a clean it up.
