NOt sure which one is your submission and it is difficult for me to speak for the entire evaluation committee as this is a group effort.
What I did notice is that many designs incorporate the entire "full wording" of the association name. This may compromise the ability for the logo to comply with this suggestion: (included in the posting):
1) New logo should be simple design that is recognizable when shown in large scale format on a trade show booth graphic AND when shrunk down to letterhead size.
I would say that any submission would have a better chance of winning if the graphic had an element which alluded to:
a) Canada b) Fire c) Alarm
d) a bonus would be a way of identifying the idea of this association being a non-profit entity committed to "raising the bar" with respect to fire alarm use and fire safety across Canada by engaging everyone who plays a role in developing codes, selling systems, installing systems, inspecting and testing systems, enforcing codes, keeping their building occupants safe.
CAUTION: there is another "related" association in Canada called the "Canadian Fire Safety Association" which deals with fire related safety systems beyond fire alarm systems (such as building fire sprinkler systems). We are not them and thus, need to have a logo which differentiates "fire alarm" from "fire safety".

Comment: Big caution flag that it may look too much like the old logo. As stated in the brief, the old logo looks like an old wagon wheel. Consider that this initiative was quite contraversial and did not pass the vote by a unanimous decision. For that reason, I suspect that if a new logo resembles the old logo too much, the board may just fall back to the old logo and not change at all.

I've submitted variations that are non circular (wheel-wagon). Simple, clear, bold, and that encompass the guidelines. Would I be able to get some direct feedback on these? Hello Designers, I really appreciate all your messages and requests. I will try to respond during the holidays but no promises. I''m off after today. After reviewing all the designs VERY BRIEFLY, I can say that I''d bet the executive board would also appreciate a logo that conveys a sense of "partnership". Not sure how to do that but the CFAA must work with Listing Agencies (such as ULC) and Fire Department Safety Officers (across the country), Fire Marshalls (Provincial) and many others in order to achieve its mission and goals. Hence, a "collaborative approach" or "partnership" with those bodies/agencies is essential. Hope that helps, Happy Holidays!
