I am launching a new business venture and need a vintage brand identity for the enterprise. The image would include a logo for "Shurky Jurky" and the following phrase: "Purveyors of Choice Artisan Jerky".

My business, Shurky Jurky (www.shurkyjurky.com), is a purveyor of artisan jerky made with natural products, spices and real fruit. Current products have included beef, pork and turkey and contain no additives, no preservatives, no sugar, no bull. Sales have been primarily through WOM and social networking and a few blogs.

The background of the logo should include mountains and pinetrees / evergreens. You can include a runner icon / silhouette in the background as well. The colors should pop out as should the logo. It should jump off the page. Try to create a textured, old, vintage, weathered look. Mountains and background could appear worn and faded.

For primary color scheme - think "grand canyon clay". So reds and oranges of this color variation along with blacks, browns and whites.

For secondary color schemes, feel free to provide whichever color schemes you think would POP off the page. Maybe sharp or dull blues and reds with whites and blacks.

The existing brand logo (see samples) was intended to be temporary as this began strictly as a a hobby but there appears to be significant market interest. I am able to offer $900 (USD) to the winner.

I am seeking to appeal to outdoors lovers, athletes as well as beer and food enthusiasts. The desired identity of the brand should resonate with all age groups. I am particularly fond of the old circus style fonts from the early 20th century. Think really old style circus posters (e.g. Ringling Brothers). Those can be sources of inspiration as well. Again, the ideal logo will appeal to athletes, beef lovers and foodies, of all ages, old and young. Google "old circus posters" for ideas. Think older, classic, traditional products, fonts and images that are coming back to the main market now. Look at fonts, product and logo designs from late 19th and early 20th century for inspiration.

The below snapshot of Google's Harry Houdini logo embodies the style that is envisioned for the brand and should serve as a guiding path in terms of desired output. The logo should POP off the page. The graphics could appear faded and worn, e.g. the mountains in the background should look distant and textured.

In addition to the above suggestions, in choosing color schemes, perhaps consider using those that are warm and inviting. Dark / deep blues, sharp reds, blacks, and grays.

Suggestions for typography could include retro, vintage. Perhaps with Soviet / Russian (Cyrillic) fonts / characters. These are just suggestions.

I have selected my top 20 choices and they are uploaded as the file logo examples. I particularly like the Geowild logo #18 as the picture of the outdoors would appeal to natural food enthusiasts, beer lovers and recreational athletes.

The current slogan is "Meat your taste, buds!" but I am very open to creative ideas on this or other slogans / phrases. The slogan does not need to be included on the logo.

Outdoor recreationalists, performance athletes, craft-beer aficionados, and health food enthusiasts are the target markets. Logo / branding must appeal to all of these targets of all ages. Target financial demographic are those individuals who are tired of mainstream market jerky and are looking for a healthy, delicious and "addictive" alternative. See "4 markets" file attachment. These logos are meant as suggestions. Please create or find examples you deem to be most suitable.

1) Outdoor recreationalists (hikers, backpackers, campers, hunters, rock climbers, etc.) - think CliffBar...
2) Performance athletes
3) Craft-beer lovers
4) Health food enthusiasts (foodies)

  If opting to include animal icons/silhouettes, then also display a pineapple and/or apple, cow, pig, and turkey as the product is not just beef. Maybe include, cowboy spurs? Think old cowboy town meets 21st century.
  
  Don't want to be isolated to being identified with just beef jerky, hence "Artisan Jerky".

  Icons/silhouettes of cow/bull, pig, turkey, deer, pineapple, apple, mango, beer mug / stein with foam / head, hops / barley, weightlifting barbell, kettlebell, runner, hiker, tent, campfire, etc. All examples have been uploaded as a silhouettes file.
  
  Again, these images should connect with the four target markets:
  1) Outdoor recreationalists (hikers, backpackers, campers, hunters, rock climbers, etc.)
  2) Performance athletes
  3) Craft-beer lovers
  4) Health food enthusiasts (foodies)
  Also, these icons don't need to be copied exactly but used as a frame of reference. They should be inspirational. One solid color, perhaps outlines around as a border?
  
  The silhouettes on our webpage (www.shurkyjurky.com) don't need to be copied exactly but could be used in some variation. Perhaps, a cow/bull, pig and turkey along with fruit, pineapple and apple could be organized around the center-piece of the logo symmetrically. The key is that the business will be broad. Right now we focus on beef primarily but in the future there will be breadth of scope for all types of jerkies including fruit roll-ups.

• A bull as the primary / central identifying character / icon is not recommended as this tends to be heavily overused.
  
  No bull / man blend mascot. Again, this is too narrow of a focus and the goal is to appeal to a broader audience (see target market).
