File Sharing Website: Remake

We are working on a file sharing website and are looking for innovative design ideas. Our site will be competing against mega.co.nz and dropbox, a lot of the functionality is similar. You are free to look at their sites to understand what we are aiming.

We already have a design concept that we will be using: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/47174875/sample_design.png. Your layout should be same as on the screenshot but you are free to experiment with different page styles/colors.

Your main job is to modify this design and add a navigation menu to it. We are open to all sorts of menus ex. pull up/down (hidden) menu at the top/to the side or a static menu at the top/side. Heres a thought: make the menu act like a semi-control panel i.e. display the user profile image on it as well as information like "storage space used".
