According to research by the American Academy of Pediatrics the number of cases of acute depression has increased exponentially in recent years in line with the type and frequency of content consumed on social networks: beautiful women, rappers, influencers, expensive footwear… all things that increase our sense of inadequacy, make us aspire to pre-packaged lifestyles and distract us from the things the really want whether that’s sentimental, personal or professional.We’ve transformed the simple scrolling gesture into a perpetual and daily masochistic ritual.So as someone who works in this digital reality, I feel compelled to do something about this silent problem.Deep Scrolling is an artistic, social movement that aims to positively change our relationship with social networks by transforming them into an inspiring and therapeutic habit. A new digital lifestyle: Unfollow people who post useless stuff and start following people who post art.In this way, art can finally return to where it was before and take us to unexplored corners of our souls, places that are so deep they can often only be accessed through images.It’s a new way of conceiving a movement because it didn’t start with a group of artists with the same vision but from the collective artistic needs of anyone and everyone including those with the most distant points of view.Becoming a Deep Scroller is simple, but it requires determination and precision, using social media as a cure and not a condemnation.The actions you need to take:- Stop following all those profiles that create unrealistic aspirations, a sense of frustration, and dissatisfaction that inhibits you from discovering your true nature.- Open yourself up to a new way to conceiving human artistic endeavours, the most profound expression of man’s subconscious desire to take us to places our minds are not used to navigating, bringing new energy to our connected neurons so we may observe the effect this exerts over time.- Start following Art profiles, or anyone who posts art. This could be visual, contemporary, historical, literal or cinematic. Artists themselves or third parties, start following whoever posts content you feel could be deeply useful for your daily inner revolution.- Become promoters of beauty by sharing content on your own social profiles that you would like to be as useful to others as they were for you, thus becoming useful profiles to follow and bringing back a more human meaning to the now digitized word "Sharing"- Use the Hashtag #DEEPSCROLLING for each of your artistic sharing actions, so that the next Deep Scroller can follow the Hashtag itself and receive your purposeful input into the universe. In the hope that this initiative is transformed into a gateway towards a new dimension made of love, creativity and the desire to explore oneself.Personally, to help you, I’m going to dedicate some of my Instagram Stories to recommending contemporary artists that I find particularly stimulating. I hope they will resonate with your own frequencies, and wish you the most incredible journey towards what’s most appropriate for you.
